the understanding pregnancy changes video.<\/p>\n<p>You will see from this we have the anterior pelvic tilt, which naturally happens as your baby grows.\u00a0 However, this change compresses the inguinal part of the lymphatic system, and reduces the ability of the body to return the fluid from your legs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vivehealth.com.au\/blog\/2020\/12\/21\/heat-pregnancy-find-ankles-summer\/heat-in-pregnancy-banner\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5893\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-5893\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vivehealth.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Heat-in-Pregnancy-banner.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"484\" height=\"272\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.vivehealth.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Heat-in-Pregnancy-banner.png 2240w, http:\/\/www.vivehealth.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Heat-in-Pregnancy-banner-300x169.png 300w, http:\/\/www.vivehealth.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Heat-in-Pregnancy-banner-768x432.png 768w, http:\/\/www.vivehealth.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Heat-in-Pregnancy-banner-1024x576.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 484px) 100vw, 484px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So all in all, it\u2019s a tough journey for your body to cope with this extra fluid.\u00a0 We do know we can\u2019t predict how a body will respond to pregnancy, some women have minimal impact of the extra fluid, others have a noticeable fluid retention.\u00a0 There are also conditions that may develop during pregnancy that can increasingly impact this fluid which is why it is always incredibly important to discuss any changes, including increase in fluid with your medical care provider.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>What can you do to help?<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Exercise and muscle contraction is your best friend to assisting the lymphatic system to work a little better.\u00a0 So assuming you are able to comfortably do, gentle walks or swimming will be your best friend to help with fluid retention.<\/li>\n<li>Massage has a considerable impact on stimulating the excel fluid, self massage or booking for one of our pregnancy massages will help. For bookings click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merakaitherapies.com.au\/book-now\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Unfortunately, we cannot recommend lying on your back with your legs up due to supine hypotensive syndrome, however if you are able to sit with your legs elevated which although you are compressing the inguinal area, it may be enough to allow fluid to return more effectively.<\/li>\n<li>Spinning babies also has a \u201cbelly lift\u201d technique which is great for temporarily lifting baby and taking the pressure off the inguinal area. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spinningbabies.com\/pregnancy-birth\/techniques\/abdominal-lift-tuck\/\">https:\/\/www.spinningbabies.com\/pregnancy-birth\/techniques\/abdominal-lift-tuck\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Staying as cool as you can and as hydrated as you can over the coming months.
