E.F.T. Emotional Freedom Technique

By Alex Beck-Brandl

energyDid you ever want a simple, yet efficient method to swiftly resolve issues of stress, anxiety, phobias and other problems in your life? Something you can do yourself, anytime, anywhere? A method that is safe and easy to learn with no ongoing cost and no side effects? Then read on…

In the past couple of decades we have been bombarded with literature on positive thinking and affirmations in order to better our lives. Looking into the mirror every morning and telling ourselves how wonderful we are is probably producing some good feelings, if done for a long time. But it is often not the solution to our problems, because nice words are just that, nice cover up techniques to push the real issues away. The problem is that emotional issues which are ignored usually come back in the form of a physical condition. The real, lasting solution is to face the problem, accept its presence, and then release it rather than repress it.

EFT is doing exactly that. Specific setup phrases spoken out loud make us fully aware of the problem. We then tap on meridian points mainly on the head and a couple on the upper body, which leads to resolution of the emotional energy disturbance. EFT is somehow a relative of acupuncture/ acupressure in that we work with the same energy meridians in the body. Instead of stimulating them with needles or pressure, we use a simple tapping method. No deeper knowledge of the meridian system is needed.

Based on the belief that emotional as well as physical problems are caused by a disturbance in the energy flow in our meridians, EFT draws on traditional Chinese medicine. But EFT also incorporates modern scientific methods and David Feinstein (PhD) concludes in an article: “A review of current evidence revealed that the use of acupoint stimulation in treating psychological disorders has been examined in a number of studies that met accepted scientific standards. These studies have consistently demonstrated strong effect sizes and other positive statistical results that far exceed chance after relatively few treatment sessions.”

Once you have learned the basic tapping recipe, you can do it on your own, anywhere, anytime, for anything. It is a self-empowering method to resolve issues of stress and anxiety, phobias, cravings, sleep disturbances, even physical symptoms such as chronic pain, tension, skin conditions and many more.
