As we enter the second month of the year, we thought we’d round up some health tips from 7 of the world’s most prolific health and wellness bloggers to help keep you on track with your health and fitness goals for 2016.

From fitness advice, through to cooking tips, we hope these inspirational tidbits helps to keep you motivated in your journey to better health.

Eating your way to health

Renowned journalist and author Sarah Wilson, I Quit Sugar is a key figure in health and wellness circles. This list wouldn’t be the same without a quote from her. In an interview with the Canberra Times she said: “People have been asking me for years, ‘look can you just cut to the chase, how can I be healthy? What’s the one thing I can do?’ – and I say learn to cook properly. And if you can learn to cook in this effortless perpetual flowing way, then it’s actually just part of your life, you don’t think about it.”

Sydney-based nutritionist and self-confessed hippie blogger, Lola Berry is a popular TV personality who regularly dishes out wholesome advice: “Practice mindfulness, so that means be present when you eat, enjoy the smells, textures, flavours, sounds. Be there!!”

Remember too that health is all about balance. Popular Australian nutritionist and Changing Habits founder and blogger Cyndi O’Meara provided this wonderful pearl of wisdom: “Eating fat, sugar and salt is not necessarily bad! It all depends on the quality. Choose unprocessed forms as these elements all play a part in our wellness.”

Good ol’ fashioned advice

Blogger Lee Sutherland, of Fitness in the City gave this great piece of advice: “Just start. Don’t wait for Monday or for that perfect moment, just take small steps towards a healthier, happier life now. Whether that’s adding more water into your diet and less soft drink, or swapping a chocolate for some berries, not skipping meals or even teaching yourself to swap negative thoughts for some ass-kickin’ loving ones – just start.”

We’re fans of Australian nutritionist and blogger Tara Leong from The Nutritionist & The Chef and have featured her on the blog before. Her simple advice to those wanting to get healthy?” “Every little thing you do to be healthy is contributing to your goal. You don’t HAVE to drink green smoothies with bee pollen every morning, nor spend a fortune of protein powders or superfood bars. Just move your body each day and eat lots of fresh foods.”

US-based health and wellness author, speaker and coach Holli Thompson in an interview: “My non-negotiables are 1) Greens each day. Usually in the form of a juice or smoothie 2) Get at least 7-8 hours sleep. Lack of sleep is the fastest way to get foggy brain, gain weight and feel low energy. 3) Move, hopefully each day, but at least 5 times a week. Walk, jump, run, but do something to clear your head and move your body.”

Fitness and health go hand-in-hand

And last but not least, fitness blogger Kayla Itsines, one of Australia’s prominent personal trainers told Business Insider: ““I understand that people don’t have time to drive to the gym. The gym might be 20 minutes away and 40 minutes of your day wasted, plus you have to do your workout. I get how people don’t have time but… you can literally get a few pieces of equipment up in your lounge room and do it. All you need is the length of your body as space on the ground and you can achieve a great workout.”
